SEO / AdWord Companies Should Practice What They Preach

The company I work for gets continuous phone calls and emails from companies selling their website SEO and Google AdWords services and how they can improve it.

They normally do this by sending a report and offering some quick advice about how using specific Adword keywords would get the sites more hits.

The comments they make are what I am aware of  and what I am currently in the process of doing to improve the companies SEO and AdWord campaigns.

The rest is total marketing rubbish to try and scare businesses into spending vast amounts of money for a few more hits.

A good example of this is when a keyword was suggested to me and they said it would improve the hits to the site. It would improve hits to the site, but at a massive £3 per click and the keyword was irrelevant to what we do. This means people would land on our site and leave (drop off) instantly wasting their time and our money.

When they start suggesting things like this to me over the phone I usually do my own quick SEO check of their own website site and normally find it has a much lower ranking than our site or that they don’t even use Google AdWord campaigns to promote their site.

When I mentioned it to them once they said “we don’t need to use Google AdWord campaigns”. What, so you don’t want more people finding you online to pay for your service?

It’s hard to believe companies like this exist that don’t do what they are trying to sell you.  How can you trust them?

They should definitely practice what they preach.
